What JM Marketing does
JM Marketing builds, hosts and maintains websites for Savannah and Pickwick businesses and sets up their on-site SEO, with the seasonal changes a Hardin County business needs made on the site when they happen.
Pages that tell an out-of-state visitor where the business is, when it is open and how to book or call.
Hosted on JM Marketing’s own servers, with a backup before any change, busy season or not.
Updates every month, plus seasonal hours and event notes changed when the business changes them.
Titles, headings and structured data that name Savannah, Pickwick Lake and Hardin County.
The local picture
Hardin County runs on a seasonal economy, and a website here has a different job from one in a town that stays the same size all year.
Savannah is the Hardin County seat, with about 7,200 people, rising to as many as 25,000 at peak times. The city describes tourism as its driving force. Pickwick Landing State Resort Park has a lodge, convention center, marina, golf course, campground and cabins, and Shiloh National Military Park is in the county.
Lodging, marinas, guides, restaurants and shops in Hardin County live or die on being found by somebody planning a Pickwick trip from out of state, weeks before they arrive. That is a different problem from being found by a neighbor. A visitor searches for Pickwick Lake, Pickwick Dam or the state park, so a Savannah or Pickwick website has to say plainly where the business is in relation to them, and what a visitor needs to know before booking or setting off.
Hours in Hardin County change by season, and a stale set costs real business. A visitor who reads summer hours in November and drives out to a closed door has been let down, and one who reads winter hours in June may book somewhere else. The hours on the website, and in the structured data search engines read, should change on the day the business changes them.
Savannah’s calendar has its own spikes: Salute to the Forties in spring, the Bluegrass Festival in summer, RiverFest in fall and Christmas on Main in December. Each brings visitors searching for what is open, where to eat and where to stay that weekend. A business that expects them can have its event hours and plans on the site before visitors start searching, and take them down when the weekend is over.
Downtown Savannah runs a Main Street program with annual facade grants and reports no empty storefronts. A downtown shop there is on a full street, and for a visitor its website is often the first look at it. The site should show the same care the storefront does, with current hours and a clear picture of what is inside.
More is in development. A 99-acre riverfront marina project has been about 15 years in planning. The city’s first hotel is on the way, four stories and 82 rooms with a conference center, restaurant and pool, and an amphitheater is planned. More rooms and more events mean more visitors searching for the businesses around them, and a Hardin County business with its website in order before they open is ready for them.
